Hello 2018!

First Blog Post of 2018! 2017 was a monumental year for my art career. And, thank you so much to all who bought art from me or supported me in any other way! I am truly grateful! In November of 2017, I officially became a 100% full time artist. I can not believe I have the opportunity to devote so much time and energy into getting my art career off the ground. In just in the past month I have been able to create quite a bit of momentum, and I am excited to see where this year will take me.

This past week I finally finished the largest painting I have ever made. It’s a commission that will be headed out to Denver soon. The painting is a three panel piece. Each panel is 4.5 feet tall by 3 feet wide, totaling 9 feet wide by 4.5 feet tall. This was one of those pieces I learned A LOT from in many different ways. The painting took me much much longer to complete than I had estimated. I have no idea how many hours I put into the piece but I know it’s in the 100’s. All my hard work paid off in the end. The clients love it and I am very happy with the reaction I am getting from people who see it. Now that I am done with the Large commission and moving on to painting smaller pieces in that past few weeks, my flow and process speed seems to have increased dramatically! It just goes to prove that every great struggle pays off in the end and makes you grow and become better. It’s crazy how everything seems to happen for a reason, and you just don’t realize what that reason is right away. I am learning more and more to meet these challenges head-on, trusting that the payoff WILL come. Perhaps just not in the way I first thought it would.

Looking forward, I will be the featured artist for the months of March and April at One Well Brewing, in Kalamazoo, MI. I am currently creating many smaller pieces for the show, featuring State of Michigan related art. I have also been playing around with the idea of making a few small beer and Kalamazoo related pieces. Also, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts has accepted me back again as an exempt (from the jury process) artist for the 2018 Art Fair! So I will be there again the first weekend in June.

Time to get to work! Thanks for reading!
